A Ring Made by Hand and Heart

A Ring Made by Hand and Heart

Every so often, a project comes along that allows me to connect with my client in person. This is one of those stories.

A client reached out with something very special:  small pieces of turquoise that held personal meaning for her.  She didn’t want them sitting in a drawer, she wanted them transformed into something she could wear every day.

Instead of simply asking me to make the ring for her, she told me she wanted to be part of the process.  So she came to my studio, turquoise pieces in hand, and I taught her how to create a custom inlay ring from start to finish.

We chose a ring blank from Bentwood Ring Supplies, and got to work.  We talked, laughed, cut, crushed, sanded, shaped, and polished.  And with every step, she watched her raw materials turn into something beautiful, something meaningful, something uniquely hers.

When she slid the finished ring onto her finger, a band inlaid with her own turquoise, her whole face lit up.  She left wearing the ring she had made with her own hands, using materials that mattered deeply to her.  And today, she tells me she rarely takes it off.

It’s more than jewelry to her.  It’s memory.  It’s meaning.  It’s connection.  It’s art she helped create!

These are the moments that remind me why handmade matters, why stories belong in the things we wear, and why jewelry is so much more than metal and stone.

If you’ve thought of creating a meaningful piece of your own, or you have materials you want transformed into a wearable keepsake, I’d be thrilled to help bring your vision to life.

Every ring tells a story.  What will yours be?
